Peter Broughan

Producer / Writer Peter Broughan is best known for having originated, developed and produced Rob Roy (MGM / United Artists), which secured an Academy Award nomination and a BAFTA Best Actor award for Tim Roth.

Peter also originated, developed and produced the award-winning The Flying Scotsman, the remarkable true story of Ayrshire cyclist Graham Obree which was acquired by MGM. He was previously a BBC Television Drama Producer and then an independent, originating shows like The Young Person's Guide to Becoming a Rockstar for Channel 4, which won the “Best Drama Serial” at the Royal Television Society Awards.

He has a strong and long-standing interest in UAP / UFOs. He founded and directed The Scottish Paranormal Festival in 2014, which covered the spectrum of paranormality, including UFOs.

With the backing of Screen Scotland, he has recently developed Whistleblowers, a "fiction-based-on-fact" feature set against the Rendelsham Forest Incidents of 1980 and beyond, which is now at the casting stage.

Peter has otherwise also enjoyed an eclectic career as a culture activist, a journalist, a film industry representative, an indie cinema operator, a film researcher, and a founder and organizer of Festivals.
